The renovated Finnish Museum of Games reopens at Vapriikki on 10 October, featuring 110 playable Finnish titles across digital, board, role-playing and live-action formats.

The renovated Finnish Museum of Games reopens on Saturday 10 October at Vapriikki in Tampere, showcasing 110 Finnish titles across digital, board, role-playing and live-action formats.

Visitors and stakeholders guided the revamp. Fundraising drives in 2015 and 2026 paid for expanded interactive displays, including driving simulators and miniature game exhibits, the City of Tampere said.

The new chronological presentation ranges from 19th-century board games to this year’s releases. Researcher Asla Heikkari said the selections, including new additions such as Unemployment Simulator 2018, aim to represent different strands of Finnish gaming culture. Older items will be featured in interviews in a new video room.

Longtime contributors such as Pelikonepeijoonit donated large collections. A rotating mini-exhibition, Pelaaja – Challenger, curated by Jukka O. Kauppinen, examines the rise of Finnish games journalism.
