Road resurfacing disrupts travel in five Pirkanmaa towns this week (July 13–17)
Resurfacing work is scheduled July 13–17 in five Pirkanmaa municipalities (Lempäälä, Vesilahti, Nokia, Kangasala and Ruovesi), with preparatory work also under way in Tampere, Nokia and Valkeakoski; drivers should expect night work and delays.
Resurfacing is scheduled for July 13–17 and will cover Lempäälä, Vesilahti, Nokia, Kangasala and Ruovesi; preparatory work is also under way in Tampere, Nokia and Valkeakoski, Aamulehti says.
Crews will tackle stretches including Highway 3 at Marjamäki and Pitkäniemi, Main Road 301 (Viialantie–Valkkistentie), Main Road 339 at Suorama, Regional Road 66 (Siikakangas–Jäminkipohja) and sections of Highway 12 around Tottijärvi. Many jobs will be carried out at night. The ELY Centre for Inner Finland says the resurfacing will cause congestion and longer travel times and asks drivers to take care near work zones.
Drivers should also expect preparatory and finishing work on the road surface, such as line painting, to continue in the weeks after resurfacing before normal speed limits can be restored. Schedules may shift because of weather or machinery problems. Plan for delays.
The work follows earlier warnings from the regional ELY Centre about limited resurfacing this year: only about 240 km of asphalt will be resurfaced in Pirkanmaa and Kanta‑Häme, far below the 450–500 km the centre said is needed in March.
