Resurfacing on road 338 and national road 3 slows traffic in Tampere and Parkano

Resurfacing work this week on two Pirkanmaa roads is causing traffic restrictions and longer travel times, the regional Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment told Aamulehti.

Paving is under way on road 338 between Nurmi and Kolunkylä in Tampere, and on national road 3 between Lehtokulma and Mettälänkylä in Parkano. Drivers should expect queueing and slower journeys during the actual paving. Preparatory and finishing tasks will also slow traffic. Expect delays.

Line marking and other final works will continue for weeks after paving, and speed limits will remain reduced until the sites are fully completed. Schedules may shift because of weather or machine breakdowns, so the authority asks road users to take extra care near work zones and to allow additional travel time. Roadwork locations can be checked in advance via Fintraffic's Traffic Situation service.

This work continues a series of resurfacing projects across Pirkanmaa this year, following resurfacing on seven road sections in late September that also caused delays.
