Sampola's free photo lectures revisit life in Tampere in the 1900s and 1950s
Sampola hosts two free photo-led lectures on 6 Oct and 3 Nov exploring Tampere in the early 1900s and the 1950s; both are free, open to in-person attendance and live streaming on the institute's YouTube channel.
The Tampere Region Workers' Institute opens its autumn 'Masters Behind the Camera' series at Sampola with two free, photo-led talks: 6 October 2026 (17:30–19:45) and 3 November 2026 (17:30–19:45).
Vapriikki photo archive researcher Antti Liuttunen will present the opening lecture, "Past World – Tampere in the early 1900s." The closing talk will portray the atmosphere of 1950s Tampere through period photographs. Both events are free and require no advance registration. They can be attended in person at Sampola or streamed live on the institute's YouTube channel. The lectures will not be recorded.
Sampola's auditorium has step-free access. The hall is on the second floor; accessible entry is through the inner courtyard E-door. An elevator connects the floors, and there are wheelchair spaces in the auditorium. Contact: info(at)tampereenopisto.fi.
The talks accompany Vapriikki's recent photo exhibition on early 1900s Tampere, which opened in June and recreates the city's streets and factories, and continue Sampola's autumn programme of public lecture series hosted at the venue this autumn.
