Milavida Marks Näsilinna's 1918 Battle with Theme Day on April 1
Milavida museum will mark the 1918 battle for Näsilinna with guided tours, short film screenings and a researcher’s lecture on April 1, the City of Tampere says.
According to the City of Tampere, Milavida museum will host a "Näsilinna 1918" theme day on April 1 featuring guided tours, short film screenings and a researcher’s lecture.
Guided introductions to Milavida are scheduled for 14:15 and 16:15, with presentations of the Tampere 1918 civil war museum site and short documentary screenings at 14:30 and 15:30. The film Battle of Tampere – Epilänharju 1918 will be shown; it is not recommended for children under 13.
Short talks at 15:00 and 16:00 will trace how the private Milavida house became Näsilinna and examine visible traces of the fighting and damage. Researcher Antti Liuttunen will give a lecture on the Näsilinna battle at 16:30; seating in the lecture hall is limited.
The day will also consider how museum work has changed, from exhibits such as the Kuorevesi church organ to displays of Vivienne Westwood fashion.
