Teuvo Teräväinen is ruled out of Finland’s World Championship game against Hungary after suffering an injury, prompting coach Antti Pennanen to reshuffle the lines.

Teuvo Teräväinen's tournament ends prematurely after he suffered an injury, ruling him out of Saturday's World Championship game against Hungary, Tamperelainen reports. Coach Antti Pennanen has reshuffled the lines, with Eemil Erholtz slotting into the third line alongside Janne Kuokkanen and Aatu Räty, and Jesse Puljujärvi moving up to the top line with Alexander Barkov and Sakari Manninen.

Joonas Korpisalo of the Boston Bruins will start in goal, with Harri Säteri as backup. Tamperelainen adds that the tournament passes for Mikael Seppälä and Sami Päivärinta have not yet been stamped, but that Seppälä has specifically been locked in for Finland's eighth defence slot for the World Championship roster.

Finland opened the championship with a 3–1 win over Germany on Friday, and Tamperelainen adds that the team has won its first two tournament games. Next up, before the reigning world champion United States on Monday, with the match scheduled to start in Zurich at 17:20.

Finland dominated much of the even-strength play.

Tamperelainen reports that United States star Matthew Tkachuk will be absent from Monday's game because of the birth of his child. The same source adds that Mikael Granlund is expected to join the team, but is not expected to play on Monday, while Mikael Seppälä has been cleared to play, leaving one forward spot still open.

Hungary arrive with a mixed record. This is their second straight top-level tournament after surviving last year’s relegation test. They lost eight recent warm-up games and were beaten 3–1 by Canada in their final tune-up.

Several Hungarian forwards will be familiar to Finnish fans from Liiga: Vilmos Gallo (KooKoo), Balazs Sebok (Ässät) and Bence Horvath (Jukurit).

The match will be only the third meeting between the two nations at this level; Finland has won both previous encounters in regulation time.

On the roster process, Tamperelainen states that federation final decisions are being held until the NHL’s second-round playoffs finish, with Sami Päivärinta awaiting confirmation.
