Summer Record for Museum Card: Serlachius and Vapriikki Among Top Venues

Museum Card visits hit a new summer peak, with more than 1.16 million check-ins across Finland between May and August this year, Aamulehti reports. That is roughly a 9 percent rise on the 1.063 million recorded in 2025.

The card gives access to more than 360 museum sites. While Helsinki institutions still dominate the national top ranks, regional venues made strong showings. Serlachius Kartano in Mänttä rose to fifth nationally and Serlachius Pääkonttori was tenth, helped by the blockbuster Anish Kapoor exhibition at the Kartano, which drew about 45,000 visitors and raised the profile of the Mänttä venues. Museokeskus Vapriikki in Tampere also placed among the country's 30 most visited sites, and Tampere Art Museum and Sara Hildén Art Museum featured prominently in both the national list and Pirkanmaa’s top five.

FMA Creations Oy, owned by the Finnish Museums Association, runs the Museum Card scheme. Revenue from the system is redistributed to Finnish museums according to visitor numbers; there are no beneficiaries outside the museum sector.

Tampere museums saw local highs this summer. The Tampere Police Museum recorded its busiest month on record in July.
