Tampere is moving to secure the future of the Lahdenperä service station in Vihioja after the community board approved a draft plan and forwarded it to the city board and council.

The city is moving to guarantee the service station's future in Vihioja after the community board approved the draft plan and forwarded it for consideration by the city board and council, Tamperelainen reports.

The station, formerly a Shell and now operating as St1, has until now run under special permits. The approved draft will be placed on public display and, if adopted, would allow operations to continue both on a portion of railway land and on an area not currently covered by a local detailed plan. The city board and then the city council will make the next decisions as the proposal moves through the approval process.
