Tampere Architecture and Design Week to probe AI's impact on local design

Tampere Architecture and Design Week (TAD), running across the city from 25 September to 4 October, focuses this year on how artificial intelligence is reshaping the work of architects and designers, according to Aamulehti. The programme follows other AI-focused discussions in the city, including a UN forum on city AI held in early September, and complements local events such as the Designtori market later in the week.

Organisers frame the programme around questions of intelligence and 'simultaneous absurdity'. It mixes talks, walks and exhibitions.

Highlights include a 150-year exhibition on architectural competitions at Vooninki in the Finlayson area, which maps about 100 sites from the late 19th century, and a discussion on competitions on 28 September. Valimo will hold open studio hours on 1 October (Verstaankatu 5 LH2), where architects and makers such as Hertta Hjelt, Laura Kaisto, Markus Pakkala and Iisa Hannula will be present. On 3 October, TAD Goes Fashion stages a runway at Vooninki featuring designers Technaya, Tikki and Tyylli by Thenu alongside Janne Hilden, Susidiko and Cheri Naomi & Chalabian.
