Tampere Backs John Rambo Film With Incentives
Tampere approved a production incentive for EARO Oy's John Rambo project, allowing up to 10% of the budget for Tampere-region costs and an additional 0–5% for local publicity. The contract will bind the city only after it has full legal effect.
On February 24, Tampere approves a production incentive to back EARO Oy's John Rambo project, Tamperelainen reports. The contract will bind the city only after it has full legal effect.
Under the incentive, a maximum of 10 percent of the total budget can be allocated to Tampere-region audiovisual production and local costs, with an additional 0–5 percent possible for Tampere-region publicity and visibility. To be eligible, the producer must use Tampere region as a filming location or draw on local artistic or creative expertise. Anna-Kaisa Heinämäki, head of the city's attraction and advocacy group, announced the decision on February 24. Tamperelainen notes that Heinämäki, Film Tampere program director Fanny Heinonen, and EARO Oy's Jupe Louhelainen did not comment on the incentive.
Helander has already begun filming the movie in Bangkok, Thailand. The John Rambo story is set during the Vietnam War and takes place before the first Rambo film. Noah Centineo stars as Rambo; Stallone is not involved. The project is slated for a possible release next year.
