Tampere Classical High School is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a week of concerts, lectures, exhibitions and a student time capsule from 2–6 November.

A week of events will bring past and present students, staff and partners together to mark Tampere Classical High School’s 125th anniversary in Tampere from 2–6 November.

Festivities open Monday 2 November at Tampere Cathedral, where alumnus-turned-teacher Pasi Takala will be the guest speaker. The programme features the school orchestra, choirs and student performances.

An open house runs Tuesday 3 November from 9:30 to 16:00. At 14:30 the school hosts a public panel on the Fermi paradox in the auditorium, with physicist Esko Valtaoja, astrobiologist Kirsi Lehto and theologian Vesa Nissinen. Students Elias Järvenpää and Oskar Mantere will moderate.

The week includes a Studia Generalia lecture series in the main building’s assembly hall, an art exhibition opening at 13:00 with band-course performances, themed lessons and historical displays. There will be a jubilee menu co-created with Pirkanmaan Voimia, a portrait unveiling for headmaster Jouni Paarlahti on Friday by invitation, and a time capsule compiled by current students.

"During Clasu’s 125th anniversary week the school's history, present and future meet in many ways. We warmly invite everyone to come and get to know Clasu and celebrate with us," principal Maria Kaakkolammi said.

Visitors can leave greetings in a guestbook in the main building and view a news exhibition in the United Building’s entrance hall.
