Tampere council to vote on €6.7m sale of century-old central fire station
Tampere city council will meet Monday to decide whether to sell the century-old central fire station to the Pirkanmaa wellbeing services county for about €6.7 million.
Tampere city council will decide on Monday whether to sell the more than 100-year-old central fire station to the Pirkanmaa wellbeing services county (Pirha) in a deal reported to be worth about €6.7 million, Aamulehti reports. The wellbeing services county currently occupies the building under a temporary lease that expires at the end of the year. The sale would transfer ownership and free up funds for the city.
Council members will also review proposed changes to the 2026 budget, the city’s operating and financial performance this year, and citizen initiatives during the meeting. The session begins at Tampere City Hall at 17:00. Aamulehti is streaming the proceedings live.
The planned purchase was first reported when the wellbeing services county announced it intended to buy the central fire station for about €6.7 million in August. The county was later authorised to borrow funds for property acquisitions, including hospital and care estate purchases in October.
