Tampere High School Network Stays Intact; New Unit Planned for 2027

The city notes that the co-determination talks did not touch the current service network, and Tampere's seven high schools will keep their identities. The Hakametsä unit will begin in August 2027 in temporary premises and move to the site once the building is completed.

Aamulehti adds that the city has reaffirmed the plan established by the Vitality and Competence Committee in June 2023 to create a new high school unit in 2027, which remains in force and is being prepared. The seven Tampere high schools will retain their strong identities, and a regional survey from January 2026 shows students are highly satisfied with teaching quality, course offerings, and the sense of community at their schools. Differences between schools are seen as products of each school's unique culture and focus areas, developed with input from students, staff, and other stakeholders.
