Tampere Unveils Major Service Network Reforms

Tampere's service network plan for 2026–2040 proposes major changes to early education and other municipal services, including a 2028 shift of seventh-graders from Hatanpää School to Juhannuskylä and a 2029 relocation of the nature education program to Järvensivu, Aamulehti reports.

Aamulehti notes that the changes aim to balance pupil numbers and secure capacity at Hatanpää for Viinikanlahti's growth. The plan also keeps Terälahden School operating as an early-education and grades 1–6 school, with enrolment trends monitored for possible future changes to its structure, and it envisions a new school building at Järvensivu to host the nature education program around 2029.

The plan also calls for renovations at Hennerin Play Activity Center and notes that Pispalan daycare facilities have usage restrictions. It covers libraries, culture, sports, upper secondary education, youth services, and both early and preschool education for 2026–2040. The plan will be discussed in March in several committees, with a city council decision expected on April 13.
