Tampere launches anonymous racism reporting channel this summer

YLE reports that Tampere will launch an anonymous channel for reporting racist incidents this summer, making the city the first in Finland to establish such a channel. Submissions will be processed by the city itself or in cooperation with partners such as sports organizations, and equality coordinators may assist in handling cases. The channel will be anonymous; officials acknowledge the risk of unfounded reports but say each submission will be screened and considered on its merits before any action. Mustakallio notes conversations with migrant youths in Tampere who report racism in various situations. The channel is planned to launch in June and will be marketed across city spaces, including libraries, schools, cultural venues and public transport; Mustakallio hopes similar channels spread to other large cities and possibly smaller ones.
