According to the City of Tampere, a new anonymous channel for reporting racist incidents across city services, recreational venues and public transport will open by summer.

This spring the city will pilot different feedback methods and gather user experiences at events including Vaikuta Days for 9th graders, youth centres and on the Discord platform. It will also work with the immigrant council, the Roma working group and a basic education anti-racism working group.

The reporting tool will accept anonymous submissions and give reporters the option to receive a response. City officials say the reports will be used to revise how services respond to racism and to develop preventive measures.

Deputy Mayor Anne-Mari Jussila said the initiative responds to young people’s calls for a clear reporting route. Deputy Mayors Jaakko Mustakallio and Ilkka Porttikivi highlighted the city's legal duty and strategic commitment to promoting equality.

The channel will be showcased during Anti-Racism Week activities, including a Residents' Evening at the Hervanta Leisure Centre on 17 March 2026. Tampere is also taking part in a joint anti-racism communication campaign with the Finnish Red Cross, the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities and Finland’s six largest cities.
