The City of Tampere says it is offering a packed programme of summer exercise events for families, young people and adults across beaches, playgrounds and indoor venues. It kicks off with a family 'Start to Summer' event at the children's traffic park and the outdoor swimming pool on Saturday 6 June.
Family sessions include playground parties, yard games and lively Friday events, plus weekday outdoor activities at swimming beaches and playgrounds. Indoor options feature mother-and-baby Pilates at Koilliskeskus and Hervanta leisure centre.
Youth activities include dance, ball sports, outdoor training, water activities and racket sports, with an emphasis on involving young people in planning, fostering social connection and supporting mental wellbeing.
Volunteers trained as activity guides will lead nature outings. Participants are advised to dress for the weather and bring snacks.
Fitness testing is available through the UKK walking test: a free on-site 1 km option for 55–79-year-olds and a 2 km test for 20–65-year-olds who have no walking-limiting conditions or medications that affect heart rate.
Outdoor gyms across the city will host sessions with physiotherapists from local organisations, offering equipment instruction and training tips.
The programme is organised by Tampere sports services together with clubs, associations and private providers. Full programme details are available on the city website.
