Tampere police open probe after weekend youth house parties leave damage, underage guests
Tampere police opened a preliminary investigation after weekend house parties where callers reported underage guests, intoxication, vandalism and disorderly conduct.
Multiple youth-organised house parties over the weekend prompted a preliminary police investigation after callers reported underage guests, intoxication, vandalism and disorderly conduct, Tamperelainen reported.
Parties took place in private homes, a rented event space and an Airbnb apartment. Officers mainly issued removal orders. They contacted parents of minors and filed child welfare notifications. Electronic crime reports have been logged for individual vandalism incidents.
The investigation was opened under criminal damage and petty theft, though charges may change as inquiries continue. Stand-up comedian Riku Suokas told Iltalehti that a group of youths damaged his Tampere apartment building, but police are not releasing further details at this stage.
Earlier reports described similar incidents in the area: one Tamperelainen article said more than 200 uninvited youths caused extensive property damage at a separate Tampere house party a previous Tamperelainen report, and local coverage has warned of rising vandalism and dangerous behaviour in city parks earlier reporting on vandalism in Tammerinpuisto.
