Tampere proposes 2027 Nysse fare hikes: adult single up €0.20, two‑zone fares up to 8%
Tampere proposes 2027 increases to Nysse single‑ticket fares: adult single tickets would rise by €0.20 and two‑zone fares by about 6–8 percent. The regional transport board is due to decide in October.
Tampere has proposed increases to Nysse single‑ticket fares for 2027. Adult single tickets would rise by €0.20, two‑zone fares by roughly 6–8 percent, and event tickets by €0.15. The plan affects several passenger groups and will be considered by the regional transport board this autumn.
Under the proposal, two‑zone fares for children, young people and seniors would climb about 7–8 percent. No change is proposed for the comprehensive school group ticket or school tickets. Single tickets can be bought with a pay‑as‑you‑go travel card (value ticket), contactless payment, the Nysse Mobile app or in advance at certain retail outlets.
The increases follow the mayor’s 2027 budget proposal, which aims to raise total ticket revenue by €3.4 million. City officials expect some of that growth to come from higher passenger numbers and some from the price adjustments. "The city's challenging financial situation requires additional revenue from public transport. We want to protect frequent users by keeping season‑ticket prices unchanged, and we are introducing a new, affordable annual ticket for students," Deputy Mayor Ilkka Porttikivi said.
The proposal echoes earlier regional plans to raise fares to close a transit budget shortfall proposed in September and mirrors our previous reporting on single‑journey and two‑zone increases on those fare changes.
The Tampere Region Public Transport Board will consider the changes at its meeting on 28 October 2026. If approved, the new fares would take effect on 4 January 2027; the proposed price list appears in the board meeting attachments.
