According to the City of Tampere, free autumn exercise classes and instructor training for seniors will run across Tampere from 31 August to 13 December 2026. The Get Seniors Moving project brings together clubs, associations and other local providers to make it easy for older residents to try new activities regardless of age or past experience.
The autumn schedule includes low-threshold options such as Ballet 60+, HYROX Senior and Easy Dance Club, along with walking football, mölkky (a Finnish throwing game), senior badminton and skating. There are also several gym, mobility and balance groups. Participants can test activities safely and at their own pace.
Free instructor training is available for current and prospective senior exercise leaders. The course is run in cooperation with Tampere's sports services and the UKK Institute, and provides evidence-based, practical skills. Sessions take place at neighbourhood squares, service centres, parish halls and sports facilities across the city, and are suitable for beginners as well as active seniors looking to boost wellbeing, social connections and long-term functional capacity.
The autumn programme follows Tampere's summer exercise events for all ages and complements the city's wider low-threshold cultural offering for older residents this autumn the summer exercise programme and the nearly 100 cultural events planned for seniors.
