Tampere Seeks Nominations for 'Adult of the Year' Award Honouring Adults Who Listen to Young People
Tampere is accepting nominations for its Adult of the Year award until 18 October. This year's prize will honour a person or organisation that listens to young people and is present in their everyday lives, and the winner will be announced at the end of November.
Nominations for Tampere's Adult of the Year close on October 18. The city is inviting proposals for individuals, groups or communities, and will announce the winner at the end of November, Aamulehti reported.
This year the prize will go to a person or organisation that listens to young people and is present in their everyday lives. The city's culture and leisure board will choose the recipient with help from a children and youth group that will define which adult qualities should be prioritised in the selection.
City planning manager Mika Vuori urged nominators to give concrete examples of their candidate’s work. He said there are many deserving people across organisations, sports clubs, hobby groups, day-care centres and schools.
The award has been given since 2007. Last year the student meeting place Kamula received the honour; recent recipients include Keijo Svart (2024) and the Finnish Red Cross Youth Shelter (2023).
