Tampere to create chief information officer role from 2027, proposes €6,124 monthly pay
Tampere will create a chief information officer post from 1 January 2027 with a proposed monthly salary of €6,124.16; the city board will decide where the role will sit within administration.
Tampere will create a new chief information officer post starting on 1 January 2027, with a proposed monthly salary of €6,124.16, according to Tamperelainen.
The city board will decide on Tuesday whether to place the position within the corporate administration’s digitalisation and IT group. The CIO will lead development of ICT services for the city’s economic development and education service areas. The role includes evaluating and monitoring digitalisation benefits, acting as deputy to the group leader and supervising 14 direct subordinates. Candidates must hold a suitable higher university degree, the proposal says.
This follows the city's recent start of co-operation talks to restructure finance, HR and communications launched in August and comes amid a projected €46.5 million shortfall in the 2027 budget that the city is seeking to close.
