Tampere to invest €10.7 million in Nurmi Resort for housing and new golf course

Tampere will invest roughly €10.7 million in Nurmi Resort Oy to develop housing and a golf course north of Aitolahti. The city's corporate committee decided this week to propose the funding to the city board and council, Tamperelainen reports.

The package includes roughly €3.7 million in land apportionment — about 92 hectares from the Nurmi‑Sorila area — and a €7 million cash equity injection. Matti Helimo, chair of the committee, said the €7 million will be returned to the city as zoning agreement compensation. The timing will be decided later, with the aim of completing the return in 2027 when the project's progress and company costs warrant it.

Nurmi Resort Oy, fully owned by the city, will handle zoning, raw land development and construction of sports facilities on a non-commercial basis. The golf course's operation will be put out to tender later. A separate proposal to grant a city-backed guarantee for the project's implementation is headed to the council. The move follows a 2022 decision to extend the tram to Ruotula, which required relocating golf activities to Nurmi‑Sorila.
