Tampere's 2027 Budget Prioritises School and Day‑Care Construction
Tampere’s Housing and Real Estate Committee reviewed its 2027 draft budget on 10 September, prioritising construction of schools and day‑care centres while projecting an operating margin of €189.1 million.
At its 10 September meeting, the Housing and Real Estate Committee reviewed its 2027 draft budget, which projects an operating margin of €189.1 million.
The draft shows operating income of €290.2 million, mainly rental revenue and capital gains, and operating expenditure of €101.2 million. Net investments total €113.6 million: €102.4 million for building construction, €8.5 million for land assets and €2.8 million for the Hiedanranta and Five-Star City Centre development programmes.
It trims investment by €2.6 million from the City Board's June framework by postponing the southern district Swimming Pool and Järvensivu School.
Deputy Mayor Jaakko Mustakallio said the city will press ahead with planned projects despite tight finances, with a particular focus on schools and day-care centres. Those projects are the priority.
The committee will also consider housing and land decisions, including a new plot in Lahdesjärvi, a supported housing lot in Taatala and lot arrangements for the Käräjätörmä community village in Tohloppi.
To shore up weakened finances, each service area must prepare €1 million in additional savings and central administration €0.2 million. Together the measures are expected to improve the city's result by about €3.2 million.
The draft will feed into the mayor's budget and the City Council will make the final decision in November.
