Tampere to lease temporary school campus in Kaleva for €80,640 a month

Tampere will rent portable school blocks on a plot at Lemminkäisenkatu 14 in Kaleva to house pupils while city centre schools are renovated, at a cost of €80,640 per month, Tamperelainen reports. Construction is due to start by March 2027. It is scheduled to finish in June 2027. The units will total about 4,480 square metres and are being leased from Parmaco Oy, and the contract also covers construction of a recess yard. The agreed rent applies from 1 July 2027 until 30 June 2035, after which the monthly charge will be halved. The procurement's minimum-term value exceeds €7.7 million excluding VAT. These movable facilities are intended to keep teaching running safely and smoothly while central Tampere schools undergo comprehensive renovations. The rental deal aligns with the city's 2027 investment plans prioritising school and daycare construction the city's 2027 investment review and comes as renovation work has already begun at Tammela school the Tammela demolition and rebuild project.
