Tampere woman charged with murder after boyfriend's body lay undiscovered for around ten days in Vaasa's Palosaari

A 26-year-old Tampere woman has been charged with murdering her 37-year-old boyfriend in Vaasa's Palosaari on November 19, and is due to appear at Pohjanmaa District Court in Vaasa on Thursday. The man was found dead on November 28 after lying undiscovered for around ten days when a close relative discovered him, Aamulehti reported.

Police say the death was initially treated as non-suspicious when the victim was discovered, but the case was reclassified as a homicide months later after new information emerged. She admits using violence, but denies she intended to kill him.

Investigators followed leads about missing belongings and the victim's car to the woman's Tampere residence. A December search turned up some of the man's property and his vehicle.

The homicide investigation was opened in May. Police suspect the couple fought in the man's flat and that the woman strangled him.

They had been together since 2024, and police had previously investigated repeated domestic violence between them.
