Young Tampere man remanded for attempted murder after Ylöjärvi stabbing
A young Tampere man has been remanded on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Ylöjärvi; police say he admitted the attack and the bladed weapon is in police custody.
Aamulehti reports that police said the man admitted the attack in Ylöjärvi when they announced the case on Monday afternoon. A bladed weapon was used and is now in police custody. Officers have linked the incident to an emergency call received in the early hours between Sunday and Monday. He took part in the remand hearing remotely, did not cover his face and appeared calm.
He has a history of convictions. Court records cited by Aamulehti show multiple previous assault convictions. His most recent, from February this year, resulted in a three-month suspended sentence for assault, aggravated drunk driving and endangering road safety, and that sentence remains within its probationary period. In June 2024 he was convicted over an August 2022 assault in the Pimeesalmi Telakka area and received a four-month suspended sentence for assault and resisting a security official. Earlier 2023 convictions for assaults committed as a minor and an unlawful threat led to fines, and he faces a pending aggravated assault charge due for trial in Pirkanmaa District Court in September.
