Tampere Woman Sentenced for Two Lielahti Apartment Fires

According to Aamulehti, Pirkanmaa District Court convicted the woman and gave her a conditional one-year prison term, citing witness testimony and forensic evidence.

Court records show she first started a blaze in the entryway of an apartment she was visiting and then set a fire in the building's stairwell on the morning of 5 August 2025. Witnesses smelled a petrol-like odor. They saw flames on a scarf or mat and heard the stairwell fire alarm. A blue bottle that once contained diesel was later found in a bush and contained possible traces of the woman's DNA. Forensic analysis identified an aliphatic hydrocarbon mixture on both the bottle and the stairwell mat. A message she sent urging the apartment owner to leave shortly after she departed also supported the case.

She denied the acts but was convicted of criminal damage causing danger to life and health. She must also pay about €1,205 in damages, court costs and a victim surcharge. The verdict is not yet final.

The conviction follows other recent arson sentences in the Tampere area, including a five-year jail term for an apartment arson in Tammela and a one-year conditional sentence in an Ikaalinen house arson case.
