Car Strikes Guardrail on Highway 9 Near Tampere, Slowing Evening Traffic

According to Aamulehti, a car struck a guardrail on Highway 9 (Ysitie) near Tampere on Sunday evening, slowing traffic into the city. The collision occurred on the Tampere to Jyväskylä stretch between the Aitovuori and Alasjärvi junctions. Fintraffic's road traffic centre said both lanes are open, but traffic is being directed and moving slowly. Sami Lindberg, duty fire chief at the Pirkanmaa Rescue Department, said shortly after 5:30 p.m. that the vehicle had hit the guardrail and crews were still working at the scene. The car sustained sheet-metal damage. No personal injuries were reported. The incident happened on the same stretch of Highway 9 that was temporarily closed after a crane fell from a flatbed in a separate incident in March.
