The playground in Emil Aaltonen Park in Tammela will be renovated in autumn 2026, according to City of Tampere.
City planners say well‑conditioned play equipment, fixtures and furniture will be retained and refurbished where needed, while the central winter skating rink will be removed. Neighbouring ice options will be at the Tunturin suojaviheralue on Tunturinkatu and the artificial ice rink in Kaleva Sports Park. The former rink area will become a new play zone with market‑themed equipment and a picnic seating area, and the site will remain the city’s most accessible playground with additional accessible play items and furniture added to the park’s centre.
The concept plan also proposes improved east–west cross‑path access with a new handrail and benches, renewal of safety surfacing and artificial turf, and measures to boost tree vitality by replacing growth substrate and planting shade trees. The draft plan is on display online and in the park from 8 to 22 June 2026 and can be viewed at Tampere service point, Aleksis Kiven katu 14–16 C.
