Horisonttiaukio reconstruction begins in September as roundabout is replaced by T-intersection
Construction at Horisonttiaukio starts in early September; the square's roundabout will be replaced by a T‑intersection and some work will continue until spring 2027, with temporary traffic arrangements in place.
Work at Horisonttiaukio begins at the start of September. The square's roundabout will be replaced by a new T‑intersection as part of a phased reconstruction, and contractor VRJ Länsi‑Suomi Oy will carry out curb and stonework, paving and landscaping across the site, the City of Tampere says.
The project will proceed in stages. Some work will continue until spring 2027. Traffic arrangements in and around the square will change during the construction period. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are asked to follow temporary layouts, construction site arrangements and posted signs, and to take extra care while moving through the area.
The work follows earlier central streetworks and traffic changes, including March centre traffic adjustments March traffic changes and the April tram-area junction work at Lääkärinkallionkatu the April junction reopening.
