Kalevan Prisma to Add EV Charging Yard and 17.7 m² Transformer

Tamperelainen reports that a new electric car charging yard and a 17.7-square-metre transformer substation will be built at the southern end of Kalevan Prisma's parking area. The city has granted a permit for the works, and the charging yard and transformer will be placed along the parking area's east edge.

The project will also expand green space and add new trees in the parking area's northeast corner. The transformer will be located to avoid disrupting the centre's operations or visitor comfort, and the permit requires it to sit outside the building footprint for safety and operational reasons. Neighbours were consulted and raised no objections.

The permit includes environmental and safety conditions. The works must not harm groundwater quantity or quality; firefighting water cannot be discharged to soil or the stormwater network; and any oils used in the transformer must be managed appropriately.
