Kiilto Plans to Move Hankasalmi Production to Turku, Putting Up to 40 Jobs at Risk
Kiilto has started company-wide change negotiations after announcing plans to move production from Hankasalmi to Turku, putting up to 40 jobs at immediate risk and potentially 21 more in a longer-term scenario.
Kiilto launched company-wide change negotiations on September 2 as it plans to move production from Hankasalmi to Turku, which could put up to 40 jobs at immediate risk, YLE reported. A longer-term planning scenario could affect another 21 positions.
The transfer concerns manufacture of cleaning and hygiene products, and the company says expanding capacity at the Turku plant will be required along with additional domestic investment. CEO Anssi Asikainen said the changes are intended to secure competitiveness and sustainable growth, and he emphasized Kiilto does not plan to relocate production abroad.
Headquartered in Lempäälä, Kiilto has operated for more than 100 years. It employs about 730 people across nine countries, roughly 460 of them in Finland.
The move follows other recent restructuring talks in Finland’s retail and services sector, such as SOK’s August negotiations that could cut 130 jobs the SOK talks in August and Fimlab’s reductions in Tampere earlier this year the Fimlab cuts.
