Preliminary street and depot design drafts for the Lielahti–Ylöjärvi tram will be shown at public meetings in Ylöjärvi (9 Sept) and Hiedanranta, Tampere (10 Sept); a map-based online survey opens 7–20 Sept.

Preliminary street and depot design drafts for the Lielahti–Ylöjärvi tram line will be on display at public meetings at Ylöjärvi city hall on Wednesday 9 September 2026 and at Hiedanranta Verstas in Tampere on Thursday 10 September 2026. Both events run 17:30–19:30.

Attendees will hear an overview of the project and the current planning status, then review maps and speak with planners. Coffee will be served from 17:00. A map-based online survey opens on Monday 7 September and runs until Sunday 20 September. Respondents are asked to comment specifically on arrangements for walking, cycling and car traffic. Draft street and depot plans will be available as PDF maps on the project website from 7 September, with a link to the survey.

The meetings are part of the project's public consultation process. Earlier this year, the council and project partners held guided route walkthroughs for the Lielahti–Ylöjärvi route in March and April, and the project was first announced in 2025 when planning began. Stakeholder consultation will begin in early 2027, with the project plan due in April that year. After that, the Tampere and Ylöjärvi city councils may decide on detailed planning. Current estimates put detailed design in 2029–2031, council decisions on construction at the end of 2031, and building work in 2032–2035. Progress updates will be posted on the Tampere Tram project website.
