Tampere City Bikes hit record 280,000 rides in 2026, pushing lifetime total past one million
The 2026 Tampere city bike season recorded a record 280,000 trips, pushing lifetime rides past one million.
A record 280,000 trips were made on Tampere's city bike system during the 2026 season, pushing lifetime rides past one million as the season ended, the City of Tampere said. The surge followed the city's expansion that added about 60 new docking stations and earlier reporting that the network had topped one million journeys this season. Around 60 docking points opened in the city centre and Kaleva. August alone saw more than 50,000 rides, the service's busiest month on record. Riders bought over 17,000 access passes this year. Single-trip fees and season passes showed the biggest gains: 8,400 single trips sold, up 18% from 2025, and 3,400 season passes, up 17%. An October user survey gave the system a net promoter score of 55 and praised affordability and clear pricing, though respondents reported lower satisfaction with bike availability. The next season starts on 15 April 2027, the city says.
