Tamperelainen reports that Tampere's Nysse is planning a 2028 network overhaul, with the launch of superbus lines 7 and 8 and a tram extension from Sorin Square to Partola in Pirkkala, according to Tamperelainen.
The plan covers the entire Tampere region but focuses on South Tampere and Pirkkala, and planning is being conducted with broad resident involvement. The authorities are gathering information through surveys and events and building a data base of passenger and resident numbers, workplace locations, and mobility needs to shape the new network.
The first planning phase starts in spring, with a draft network released for resident commentary in early autumn. Final decisions are expected by the end of 2026, and the new timetable is set to come into use in August 2028, according to Tamperelainen.
