Orivesi has ended cooperation negotiations on its financial services and named Pirkkala the preferred partner if it decides to outsource. The city board will consider a possible agreement on 9 November and the council will decide on 23 November.

Orivesi concluded cooperation negotiations over its financial services on Wednesday 21 October and named Pirkkala the most practical partner if the town decides to outsource the service, YLE reports. The talks involved five employees and participants unanimously chose Pirkkala as the preferred option. Under the plan, the finance staff would transfer to Pirkkala as existing employees.

Both municipalities use the same financial administration IT systems, which would simplify joint working. Alternatively, Orivesi could buy services from an external provider selected through a joint procurement with neighbouring municipalities.

The negotiations were prompted by difficulties recruiting skilled finance staff. Employees wanted another recruitment round for the accounting manager post; the employer said two previous searches produced no suitable applicants.

Orivesi's city board will consider a possible agreement with Pirkkala on 9 November, and the city council will make the final decision on 23 November. The move follows the talks that began on 12 October, when Orivesi opened cooperation negotiations to decide whether its finance staff would transfer to Pirkkala or services would be outsourced.
