Prisma Kaleva Recycling Point Reopens, Accepting Sorted Packaging Waste Again

The Prisma Kaleva Rinki recycling point at Sammonkatu 75 in Tampere reopened after a temporary June closure while nearby construction work finished. It is now accepting sorted packaging waste. The reopening follows earlier measures to curb misuse at Tampere eco-points, including enhanced camera surveillance earlier this year.

The site currently takes cardboard, plastic, glass and metal packaging, along with small household metal items. Paper and textile collections will return in the near future, restoring the full range of household services. Full service will be back soon.

Collections at Rinki recycling points are free for households when materials are sorted. The organisation also runs a scheme for hobby fishers to hand in discarded, plastic-containing nets and traps; those collections operate at 75 designated points around Finland.

Sorting instructions are available on rinkiin.fi and on labels attached to the collection containers. Items such as furniture, electrical appliances and packaging containing hazardous waste should be taken to municipal guidance points rather than left at the recycling point.

Rinki monitors fill levels and cleanliness daily through inspections and weighings, and asks users to report full containers via the form on its website or through customer service rather than leaving waste on the ground. Harri Patana, Rinki's area manager, said: "Please report overfilled containers so we can keep the site clean and functional for everyone."
