VR will run replacement buses for scheduled trains on Nokia–Tampere (via Tesoma) on 2–3 and 9–11 May 2026, and between Lempäälä and Tampere from 4–22 May 2026; check VR’s timetable service or the Matkalla app for times and pickup points.

VR announced replacement bus services for scheduled trains between Nokia and Tampere (via Tesoma) on 2–3 May and 9–11 May 2026, and for services between Lempäälä and Tampere from 4–22 May 2026. Buses will substitute affected train departures while work or disruptions continue on the lines. Plan ahead.

YLE adds that broader Tampere railway yard works will disrupt multiple train routes in May and June. These include weekend-night suspensions on three Saturdays (2 May, 9 May and 6 June), as well as further timetable and train-number changes on Helsinki–Kemijärvi night services on 4–6 May and 11–13 May, where departures are swapped (274→264 and 265→267). YLE reports that VR will contact passengers who hold tickets for cancelled night trains.

The yard works involve renewing both the track substructure and superstructure, replacing and modifying switches, updating overhead catenary and signalling, and building a new intermediate platform. YLE also notes heavy nighttime noise expected near Erkkilä Bridge during early-May steel scaffold removal.

On the Nokia–Tesoma–Tampere runs, coaches will pick up passengers in Nokia on Rautatienkatu by the bus terminal. In Tesoma, use the Tesoma B stop when travelling toward Pori and the Tesoma A stop when travelling toward Tampere. In Tampere the buses will use the parking area close to the station’s main entrance. Timetables and pickup locations are listed in VR’s timetable service and in the Matkalla app.

Between Lempäälä and Tampere the replacement buses operate from 4–22 May 2026. In Lempäälä they will serve the Lemponkatu stop in both directions, with arrivals and departures at the parking area by Tampere railway station’s main entrance. Schedules differ from regular train timetables, so check departure points and times in advance.

Ticketing remains integrated for journeys within the Tampere region: a single ticket covers the trips affected by the replacement buses. Within the Nysse area, travel can be paid with a Nysse travel card, mobile tickets or a pre-purchased single fare; these are valid for journeys between Nokia, Lempäälä, Orivesi, Tesoma and Tampere stations. The same ticket types are accepted on Tampere region commuter trains (R and M) and on long-distance services (InterCity, Pendolino and railbuses) in Eco class, and they permit transfers to Nysse buses and the tram while the ticket is valid. Nysse tickets must be validated at the platform validator before boarding. The validator cannot be used to change or select ticket zones. Check the timetable service or the Matkalla app for exact departure times and pick-up locations.
