Tampere cuts Sunday tram and feeder bus 18 services for summer 2027
Tampere will reduce Sunday tram services and feeder bus line 18 in summer 2027 and suspend many suburban bus routes for the season.
According to ePressi, Tampere's Public Transport Committee approved changes to the summer 2027 timetable, reducing tram services and feeder bus line 18 on Sundays and suspending a number of suburban bus routes for the season.
The announcement follows earlier reporting that the city planned to cut Sunday tram frequency to 10 minutes in summer 2027 the city's earlier plan.
A long summer break is planned for routes 29B, 39, 44, 46, 47, 48 (Sahalahti–Pohja section), 49, 56, 57, 59, 77, 78, 86, 91, 92, 93 and 109. That means many suburban buses will not run for the season. Lines 77 and 78 are explicitly listed as taking a summer pause as part of Nysse's programme to balance its finances.
Service adjustments around Nokia introduced in August 2026 will continue. Lines 70 and 72 will run between Nokia station and Tampere's Keskustori, with a combined 15-minute frequency on the shared section. Lines 71 and 79 will keep serving Nokia town centre, and passengers can continue to Tampere by transferring to lines 70 or 72 or by train. Line 30 will retain its terminus at Turri, and line 7 will remain at the Käräjätörmä terminus for summer 2027.
On Sundays, trams 1 and 3 will run at 10-minute intervals and feeder line 18 every 30 minutes. Officials expect the changes to have limited impact on travel demand: summer Sundays typically record about 30,000 fewer boardings than weekdays, and summer weekend days are roughly 10,000 boardings lower than Saturdays.
