Applications opened this autumn for 41 single-family home plots across several Tampere districts; the child-family priority has been removed and the plots offered for sale will go to open auction in early 2027.

Applications opened this autumn for 41 single-family home plots, covering sites in Haukiluoma, Hervantajärvi, Holvasti, Ikuri, Lahdesjärvi (Västinginmäki), Ojala and Vuores.

Under the 2026–2029 housing and land policy, about half of the rental plots are open to any private applicant regardless of residence, while the rest are reserved for Tampere residents. Still, any applicant may apply for any plot. To qualify as a Tampere resident, at least one applicant must have been continuously registered in Tampere from the last day of the previous year up to the application date; this will be verified through the population information system.

The earlier child-family criterion has been removed. Other conditions remain: applicants who were allocated a municipal single-house plot in the past ten years are ineligible, and applications are rejected for applicants with outstanding payment defaults.

An official will oversee an electronic lottery to make selections, with results published two to three weeks after the application period closes. Plots offered for sale will go to open auction in early 2027.

Tampere city plot manager Jori Alanko said the first single-family plots sold by open auction were offered earlier this year, and that plots are intended to be sold by auction annually going forward.

Detailed locations and application information are available on the City of Tampere website.

The announcement follows earlier openings for plots in Lahdesjärvi and Lentävänniemi earlier this summer.
