From 7 June to 10 August 2027, Tampere will cut Sunday tram frequencies on lines 1 and 3 to every 10 minutes and reduce feeder bus 18 to 30-minute intervals, while several suburban routes pause for the season.

From 7 June to 10 August 2027, Tampere will cut Sunday frequencies on trams and on feeder line 18 between Kaupin campus and Atala. Trams 1 and 3 will run every 10 minutes on affected Sundays. Feeder line 18 will operate every 30 minutes. Several suburban bus routes will pause for the summer, while the Nokia-area network introduced in August 2026 will remain in place next year.

City officials say the adjustments are part of a public transport cost-balancing programme and they do not expect a major drop in overall passenger numbers. Tamperelainen notes that summer Sundays already see about 30,000 fewer boardings than weekdays, and roughly 10,000 fewer than Saturdays.

Similar seasonal service reductions were introduced last year when many suburban lines paused for the summer, and the changes come amid broader proposals to raise fares and cut services to cover an operating shortfall to plug a €39.4m deficit.
