Tredu to move machine and production engineering workshops to TAKK’s Nirva campus in 2028
Tredu will move its machine and production engineering education to TAKK’s Nirva campus in August 2028, occupying about 5,000 m² under a 20-year lease.
According to the City of Tampere, Tredu will relocate its machine and production engineering education to TAKK’s Nirva campus in Tampere in August 2028.
Under the plan, about 5,000 square metres at Kurssikeskuksenkatu 11 will be allocated to Tredu, mainly in Building A with shared access to Buildings B and C, on a 20-year lease. Annual rent is estimated at roughly €1.26 million, including the rental impact of renovation work. TAKK’s board approved the conversion and cooperation plan in March.
The move will group Tredu’s operations under a machine workshop school model and is not expected to require temporary premises for either organisation. Detailed planning starts this autumn and will involve staff and students.
Workshops will be concentrated in Building A: ground-floor halls for sheet metal and welding, machining and machine assembly, and a second-floor hall for machine automation installation. Student dining will be arranged in an expanded ground-floor cafeteria in Building A, with meal services planned together with TAKK and Pirkanmaan Voimia. Student health, psychologist and curator services will remain in Building B, provided by Pirkanmaa Wellbeing Services.
The city’s vitality and skills committee will consider the project on 22 April 2026. Kirsi Viskari, head of vocational education, said a shared learning environment will better align training with workplace needs, support joint investments and allow teachers to share expertise.
