Tredu to move textile and fashion studies to Hepolamminkatu, media training to Mediapolis

Tredu is reorganising several vocational teaching locations in Tampere, shifting textile and fashion studies from Sammonkatu to Hepolamminkatu and moving media publishing training to Mediapolis from 1 August 2027, Tamperelainen reports. If the city approves the plan, current students and those starting in August 2027 would begin at the new addresses on that date. Current and incoming students are affected. Preparation and change work will be carried out together with staff, and students will receive information and support as plans are finalised, Kirsi Viskari said in a press release. Students will be given time to familiarise themselves with the new study environments.

The proposal follows a 2025–2026 campus concept study that mapped space use and cross-discipline synergies across Tredu’s 13 campuses in Pirkanmaa, five of them in central Tampere. A delay to the Hakametsä Sport Campus has driven some interim arrangements: about 180 first-year students of the new Sammon keskuslukio Hakametsä unit will be placed at the Sammonkatu campus, following the temporary Sammonkatu placement announced in September. Tredu also plans to move some machine and production engineering workshops to TAKK’s Nirva campus in 2028 as part of wider campus changes part of a broader relocation plan announced in April. The plan is due for discussion at the City of Tampere’s vitality and competence committee on 16 December.
