VTS-kodit to demolish two Tesoma blocks as Käräjätörmä redevelopment continues
VTS-kodit has put two 1981-built apartment blocks at Käräjätörmä 8 in Tesoma up for demolition; tenants must vacate by the end of the year as part of a wider redevelopment that will add taller buildings and about 1,000 homes.
The two buildings at Käräjätörmä 8, built in 1981, are now out for tender and tenants must leave by the end of the year, Aamulehti reports.
Work on the site began two years ago. One block at the same address was taken down in spring 2025, and VTS-kodit says the cleared plots will be replaced by taller buildings to provide more apartments.
The whole area is expected to be finished in the early 2030s. About 1,000 renovated or new homes are planned overall, with VTS-kodit providing just under 500. Plans for the two buildings at Käräjätörmä 6 remain unclear, and they are not expected to be demolished before the early 2030s. The company is Tampere's largest provider of rental housing.
