Construction of a shared community house in Käräjätörmä starts this November, and the building is scheduled to open in autumn 2027. VTS-kodit has received the building permit and will begin work next month, Tamperelainen reports.
The facility will serve as a meeting place for residents, with space for a café and a gym. It is intended for everyone. The developer is working with the city and Kotipirtti ry, and programming will be coordinated with the Pirkanmaa wellbeing area and Tampere through the Tesoma wellbeing alliance. Activities are set to range from cultural events to exercise classes and health counselling.
The wider Käräjätörmä renewal is already visible: three rental apartment buildings at Käräjätörmä 3 have been renovated and a new 26-flat block is complete. Next, old buildings at Käräjätörmä 8 will be demolished and replaced with new housing. The overall upgrade is expected to finish in the early 2030s, and the city and VTS-kodit are seeking partners to bring owner-occupied housing to the site.
