According to Tamperelainen, a one-day sale of Yle's television archive costumes and props opens at Ratina shopping centre on Saturday 7 November, running from 12:00 to 16:00. The free event is organised by first-year cultural producer students from Humak University of Applied Sciences in Tampere and will be held on Ratina's third floor between Zara and the mall's pop-up space.
Everything from men's suits to vinyl records will be on offer. On sale are vintage dresses, leather jackets and old radios. Rarer pieces include Victorian women's fashion, rococo coats, peasant garments, historical and fantasy capes, old Finnish soda bottles, renaissance-style clothing, armour vests, 1950s–60s outfits and LED-striped spandex bodysuits.
Proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare. Organisers warn that a large turnout is expected and that queues are likely. The event is free to enter and open to everyone. Purchases are cashless only; card payments or MobilePay will be accepted.
