Major improvement works on the Lakalaiva ramps at Highway 3's southern interchange in Tampere start on Sunday, 4 October and run until 13 November, the local paper Tamperelainen says. Traffic will be rerouted via the road 130 ramp onto Highway 3 for the duration of the project, and the Lempääläntie ramp toward Pirkkala will be closed at times as the work advances.
The upgrades will lengthen the ramps' shared section to make merging onto Pyhäjärventie smoother and safer. A new guardrail will be installed in front of the noise barrier.
Most tasks are scheduled overnight, between 20:00 and 06:00. Some daytime work will take place inside the work zone. Drivers should expect disruption, plan for delays and use caution around the site.
The work follows recent resurfacing and maintenance on national road 3 and other regional routes, which already caused temporary traffic restrictions in late September and earlier this month across Pirkanmaa.
